Maxine

We were notified of a 4-month boxer puppy girl that was found on the streets crying in pain, unable to stand or move. She was picked up by the local shelter and named Maxine. She was in URGENT need of medical attention so CBR took her into rescue and straight to our veterinarian. Upon her exam and X-rays, the findings were unbelievable. Maxine had a completely shattered pelvis, fractured right leg, fractured shoulder blades and a fractured jaw.  This poor baby girl was suffering immensely from whatever horrible trauma she had endured. We knew it was going to be an extensive series of surgeries and recovery and also very costly ones but regardless we were going to help this baby girl. Maxine and CBR definitely had angels watching over that day as many of our supporters donated to her initial care and then an anonymous, generous, compassionate person saw the post and offered to cover all costs for Maxine’s surgeries and recovery care!

We scheduled her surgeries with top orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Ruddle and Dr. Lawrence.  In the course of a couple of months, Maxine had surgeries to repair her pelvis, her hips, and her front her leg. These procedures consisted of repairing the right SI joint, the left acetabulum, the right radius, and right FHO for fractured femoral hip. Her shoulder blades and mandible were best left to heal on their own.

After all the surgeries which required metal plates, bars and screws, we deemed her The Amazing Bionic Boxer Puppy!  Maxi then started physical therapy, slow walks, swimming, and water treadmill therapy along with lots of love and care from her fosters and CBR volunteers.

Through her months of recovery, Maxine was patient, loving, resilient and forgiving.  She tolerated her treatment and her recovery better than most humans!  Our once broken girl now had a healthy and strong body and an even stronger Boxer Spirit!

Our brave little warrior, Maxine was finally able to move into her adoptive home and let her puppy energy and spirit go wild!  She has a huge yard to run wild and free with her new fur-siblings and be the young crazy boxer puppy she was meant to be!  Maxine has amazing, loving parents who actually are both physical therapists, so we know our girl will get the best ongoing rehabilitation!  We are so happy for Maxine and her new family being the perfect match and for our supporters who make all our rescues possible.
